Get On the Richt Bus

I have great admiration for Mike McGarity and the job he has done and will continue to do at the University of Georgia.

But, is it just me, or has he become something of a "chatter-box" all of a sudden?

Seth Emerson just posted an interesting piece in which he states "Greg McGarity's phone started lighting up Thursday night..." http://www.macon.com/2011/12/09/1818108/mcgarity-says-richt-wants-to-coach.html.

Interesting, though, he doesn't say from whom.

I have no idea and no inside information, but if I were to speculate (AND let's face it that's all the media, especially the newspapers and, of course, the blogs DO today IMO): I would guess (1) the vast majority of those calls were from the same people who were calling upon McGarity and Michael Adams to fire Richt after the 0-2 start of the season, and (2) at least one of those calls was from Dr. Adams.  Again, I have no idea; but FOIA someone from the paid media, please?

Dr. Adams was the person who intially passed over McGarity for the job and gave it to Damon Evans.  We know how that turned out, (1) the athletics program became extremely profitable and fiscally sound, (2) Vince Dooley was forced out (and then Jim Donnan), (3) Jim Harrick was hired....., (4) red panties....., and (5) the only man left standing was Mark Richt.

IMO, as much as the U.G.A. sports blogoshere hates Dr. Adams, possibly well-deserved, he may have finally learned his lesson. In the long term, I think he will get some credit (deserved or not) for possibly the 2 greatest hires in modern Georgia athletics history: (1) Mark Richt, and (2) Mike McGarity, in that order.  Even if he doesn't, he should get credit for continuing the work of his immediate predecessor in further establishing and expanding the academic reputation of U.G.A.

IMO, Mike McGarity doesn't become a "chatter-box" with the media overnight because he had to turn off his phone.

Just saying.

Cursed

Enough said.

One Point and a Lot of Luck Behind

This is too painful.  I will say this for Mark Richt, he is the least lucky coach in college football.  Call a gutsy onside kick, recover it, only to be called off-sides on a questionable call.

The OBC responds with a 7 yard 4th down fake punt.

Only Georgia.

Takes More Than One Wagon to Create a Circle

It's been a long time since the Bandwagon wheels came off somewhere in the Rockies of the new Pac 12.

A horrible finish last season to a George O'Leary team notwithstanding, I continue to believe in Mark Richt and his Dawgs.

The "Dream Team" and the "old school" approach to strength and conditionining did little for the Dawgs in their opener in the Dome against a better prepared, much more mature and better coached Boise State team.

But, the season is not over, although it may not be apparent by the undying meme in the media that today is "do or die" for Mark Richt.   This is nonsense, if we get embarrased today on the field, who do you promote to hire Richt in the interim, Coach Bobo or Coach Dodo?

The good news, we play a team today which we have historically beat 3 out of every 4 times we play. My dad went to S.C. and I have for over 3 decades witnessed his undying loyalty to mediocrity.

Here's hoping that Richt snaps the Dawgs out of their short display of mediocrity.

If not, thanks for everything you have done and will continue to do Coach Richt.

GO DAWGS!

Ouch

So one wheel has come off with a little over 12 minutes to play.

We'll need more than A.J.

Bandwagon Wheels a Little Wobbly But Still Holding

Welcome back A.J. Green.

The wheels could have easily come off after the first quater, but they haven't.  Defense looks better, as does the running game and offensive line (well, at least after we let A.J. touch the ball on the third drive).

One-half to play with the Bandwagon trying to round the Rocky Mountain pass to head home in tact.

It all begins or ends now.  GO DAWGS!

Seth Emerson of the Bulldogs Blog posts some nice pictures from Boulder Bulldogs Blog, and gives a fine update on the Bulldogs travelling fan base.

Richt and company may not miss these kind of trips, but I sure will.  Not sure Charleston Southern will be quite the same.
